This is Ollie, the wonder dog, after a hard day chasing ducks. He kind of looks like Alf from the tv show, don't you think?
I had a very old 10 gauge shotgun that had belonged to my great uncle. I thought it was time to sell it in the hopes that someone would appreciate it. I contacted Sean through his website and left a message on the site. He responded very quickly and expressed an interest. We chatted for awhile and I found him very personable and likeable right away. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about all things antique guns. We met and came to an agreement for the sale. It was a pleasure dealing with Sean.

"Absolutely wonderful experience. Being a first time buyer I was a little unsure of the process and how to get collector's items such as this online. Sean answered all the questions I had and put me at ease, helped me throughout and put me in touch with the seller who was also an experienced collector. After two phone calls, I got the antique pistol I purchased at my door in 3 days. I love the collector's piece and I'm very happy with the purchase and the help from both Oldguns.ca and the seller. A highly recommended website and service with decades of experience!"

Just a note to say how much I like this page -- love the historical write ups that go with the guns. I am new to the hobby ( have just a few modest pieces to date ) -- new to guns and swords-- not antiques. I have been doing that for 35 years. Anyway, just a note to say I enjoy the text and illustrations and learn from it.
I have never come across a website that is tailored to collectors such as oldguns.ca. I was researching a family piece and was contemplating selling it, I took a chance and called oldguns.ca and got to speak with Sean, who is the fellow who's website it is. After speaking with Sean, I was stunned to learn that he promotes his site for the benefit of collectors and non collectors, he will list your piece (photograph, research, field emails) on his website at no charge, he will give you an honest appraisal at no charge, he will give you as much time as you need to answer all your questions , all this at no charge. He promotes specialized firearms restoration craftsmen on his site, again, all this for the benefit of the antique firearms community. The first thing Sean said to me was he was not in business and this is strictly a hobby for him, keep up the good work and thanks for helping promote the firearms collecting fraternity.

While I was searching for info on selling a Sharps Saddle ring and a Dragoon , I ran across Sean’s web site , I had done research , but the knowledge Sean has in his field is second to none. After a few emails and calls we agreed on a price , Sean is fair , and honest , quick responses and quick payment , as well as very personable, he was great to deal with and if I ever run across more firearms that I have questions about or to sell , Sean will be the first contact.
Thank You Sean ,
Keep doing us a service

It was a pleasure dealing with you.
Honest knowledgeable advice was
Really appreciated by me.
After we ended our phone conversation this evening I went on you web site to review your recent updating. It's now 12:50 and I just quit looking at and reading about the additions. Impressive! You have a website that's way better than most of the firearm "hawkers" in Canada and the US. A great source of firearms information to all of us who have the smell of burnt powder sickness. Keep doing what your doing.

My first transaction with Sean was a real pleasure, after a quick call to get a few more details of the Martini I was interested in, I realized I was dealing with a very knowledgeable and passionate collector. There is no reservations in recommending him, whether you are a collector or enjoy bringing the old guns back to life the transaction will be flawless.
Through inheritance, I found myself wondering what do I do with three long guns that were now in my possession... a classic Schneider Enfield and two Ross rifles. I came across Sean’s site and decided to connect. What a good decision!! Not knowing much about these rifles myself, I truly appreciated Sean’s knowledge, patience and clear communication teaching me along the way. His attention to detail and quick follow up helped me to arrive at a decision on the best way forward.
Many thanks, Sean for all your help!
I contacted Sean through the page via email looking to identify what we had gotten in a purchase. We had no idea what we were looking at but knew they were old. I sent an email with some photos and my phone number and was quite surprised with how swiftly he responded and answered. It turned out that the guns were both handmade and of no use or value aside from wall art, but neat to learn nonetheless. Thanks so much for your help! If I ever need assistance again or know anyone who does I'll be referring them to you!
I have known Sean for quite a few years. He is a very good friend and has a great knowledge of all kinds of weapons whether antique or modern. The photos that he takes are of extremely good quality and clarity and leave nothing to the imagination. His photos are as good as looking at the item in person. I have bought and sold many items on his website and have never dealt with a nicer person and not once has he ever asked for any compensation. I would very highly recommend him to all in the arms collecting field.
I was looking for a classic Winchester rifle as a Christmas gift for my hunter/collector son who resides in the U.S. Researching on the internet, I came across Sean McGuire’s website, oldguns.ca. The website is exceptional, as is his collection. I subsequently spoke with Sean and he recommended a Winchester 1895. The transaction was easily completed and Sean also recommended a broker who could handle all of the paperwork required to export the rifle to the U.S. Sean is very knowledgeable and provides professional
service. Highly recommended.
Sean McGuire has a knowledge of old weapons l have found to be most impressive. The man knows his stuff. He has access to information l was unable to find on the internet, despite exhaustive searches. He has also been very generous in sharing that knowledge with me. I contacted him a year ago about an item on his site, and we have been in daily regular communication since. I hope to continue to be able to profit from the experience he has for old guns and militarism. Thanks Sean.
I had a simple question regarding an antique firearm in the family and sent Sean an email inquiring the best time to call. To my surprise he phoned me shortly after and was able to answer my question in a way that prompted more questions I had not even thought about. Although unfortunately we determined I would lose this piece of family history at some point, I truly appreciate his expertise and am grateful for his advice.

Sean, my family appreciates the time, estimate and fair pricing you provided us on my father’s gun collection. It was a difficult time for both my father and I to part with his early life”s passion. I would recommend you to anyone who is looking to receive an honest appraisal of their assets.
Regards, Andrew L.
After inheriting a small antique gun (C. Sharps 1859 Pepperbox) from my father’s estate, I reached out to Sean to enquire around it’s value. Sean educated me on the gun’s provenance (all of which was new to me) and ended up selling it to him. Sean was extremely pleasant to deal and incredibly knowledgeable. Happy with the value I received and hope it will find a great new home in someone’s collection!
I had a great conversation with Sean the other day about things in general relating to antique firearms and such, that quite naturally drifted to his collecting addiction and a discussion about his need to run testimonials on his website. I inquired as to where and why he thought he would ever need to defend himself and he expressed a concern for one....and only one....individual who innocently questioned his integrity as a result of a previous deal with another party that went wrong. This didn't sit well for me because the Sean McGuire I know does not need a testimonial to support his standing reputation and anyone one doing business with Sean knows that.....or ought to. His reputation and his integrity is over the top. This website is tailored for and to collectors. Prices are fair. His dedication is beyond reproach. I swear he has enough return collectors to keep him going for two or three lifetimes, but if a testimonial is required, then let this one be the first and last and let it put any doubts to rest, about his commitment to anyone buying /selling or trading. I can say that Sean is an honest "what you see is what you get" person....and what you get is absolutely what you're looking for when it comes to buying and selling in antique firearms. I can't be more clear than this. Sean does not need testimonials and I would say to anyone that may have had bad dealings with other people - Call Sean
Thanks again for another nice old rifle. Sean knows his stuff and always gives an excellent assessment of his stuff, look at the photo's.... WOW! No worries about shipping items. Great guy to deal with.
Thank you for my latest purchase, The condition of my 44-40 bore is even better than you listed in your site. I appreciate your honest appraisal and determination of condition of not only this gun but all that I have purchased over the years!
Keep up the great work and I look forward to checking on your site frequently!
